Self-help at your own pace with Student Wellness Services
Self-help isn’t just about immediate comfort; it's about creating habits and routines that support your overall well-being. Often, self-help is the first thing we sacrifice during stressful times, but UCalgary's Student Wellness Services (SWS) can help you prioritize it. They offer resources, workshops, and guidance to help you make self-care a priority.
Self-paced learning
Whether you’re just starting your program or nearing the finish line, learning coping skills and strategies at your own pace will truly sustain you through both the challenges and achievements of your academic journey.
Self-directed learning allows students to personalize their learning experience and engage in a format that best suits them. It can improve motivation by providing control over pace, content, and style of learning. For instance, our video resources offer micro-learning that is accessible and enhances retention, helping you recall information more effectively. Explore self-help videos and online resources available to UCalgary students and learn more about topics like anxiety, self-care, and mental health.
Wellness workshops
Self-help does not always mean going at it alone! If you’re looking for effective strategies to invest in your mental health, consider registering for our group workshops. Wellness workshops are designed to improve mood and emotional well-being, build healthy coping skills and help manage stress and anxiety.
Workshops run both virtually and in-person, and cover topics such as Discovering Self Care, Motivation and Procrastination, Healthier Thinking, and many more. Visit the SWS workshop website here. Can't find the workshop you were looking for? You can also request and book tailored workshops here.
Training programs
An important part of wellness is understanding how to best support others. SWS offers a range of specialized training programs to help you develop the skills to recognize, understand and assist others in need. Their training programs are updated regularly, covering topics like identifying risks in emergency situations, and bystander intervention. As a member of the UCalgary community, these training programs provide you with tools to contribute to a supportive campus community. Check out the various training programs here.

Neurodiversity impacts many areas of life, including academics and personal well-being, thus, UCalgary is committed to providing support to neurodivergent students, focusing on accessibility, inclusion, and well-being. The Neurodiversity Support Office (NSO) offers a variety of resources, ranging from neuro-affirming coaching to peer support programs.
