New law gives employees time off for vaccine
The University of Calgary wants to inform faculty and staff of a new provincial law that gives employees the right to up to three hours off to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This will be paid and will not affect any benefits. We encourage all employees to receive a vaccination to keep themselves safe, and to help us return to normal as soon as possible.
As much as possible, we ask that employees book vaccination times to be the least disruptive to work, but equally recognize that appointment times can be inflexible. We are committed to being a supportive employer in helping employees take full advantage of their new rights.
For more information about vaccine safety, possible side-effects, and how to book an appointment, please visit Alberta Health Services.
