Intercultural communication in the classroom
German 501 students engaged with topics of identity and home (“Identität und Heimat”) during the Fall 2017 term. Their final project was to write a dual language book for children and present their work.
While all books included a German text, students chose a second language that was meaningful to them, hence making this creative text also an identity text for them. The other languages were English, French, Italian, Spanish and Swahili.
