Law professor’s book shortlisted for Donner Prize

Bryce Tingle’s Hard Lessons in Corporate Governance shortlisted for the prize of Best Public Policy Books by a Canadian

Every year the Donner Canadian Foundation has hundreds of nominations for its prize that recognizes excellence in public policy thinking, writing, and research by Canadians. The prize strives to encourage authors to make their mark in the industry with their original knowledge and perspectives on non-fiction topics.

Bryce Tingle’s book, Hard Lessons in Corporate Governance, dives into issues with Canada’s corporate governance structure and the subsequent effects it has on the Canadian economy. Drawing on information from hundreds of empirical studies, the book assesses how changes in corporate governance over the years have shaped outcomes for businesses. “What this nomination means is that I’m not alone and that other people think this is a really serious problem too, and that it’s important to solve,” said Tingle.

Tingle is excited to have been nominated, “The Donner Prize is the biggest non-fiction award in Canada and by far the biggest award for policy books in Canada. They had nearly 100 books that were nominated and only 5 were shortlisted, so I’m tremendously grateful that I was one of those books,” he said.
