Clinic Overview

The Women’s Cardiovascular Health Clinic (WCHC) aims to be a Center of Excellence by offering specialized care for cardiovascular conditions that uniquely affect women.  This three-year pilot program aims to provide enhanced and comprehensive care delivery, including prevention, wellness and supporting patients with successful transitioning to living well with heart disease. 

The areas of focus for this pilot include: 

  • Arrhythmia
  • Autonomic Dysfunction (POTS)
  • Evaluation of Non-Obstructive Microvascular Disease
  • Management Consult for confirmed diagnosis of Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection 

The clinic integrates research and emphasizes trainee exposure to women’s cardiovascular health.  

Following consultation, patients are transferred back to their regular GP, specialist or cardiologist for continued care.

Planning for your visit

Use the following resources to prepare for your clinic visit. Contact us if you have any questions or require additional information. 

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled clinic time and bring the following with you: 

  • Alberta Health Card (or Provincial Health Card)
  • Current medication list
  • Photo ID
  • Assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan and education with a cardiologist. 
  • Assessment and education for prevention with a nurse practitioner. 
  • Coordination of necessary testing. 
  • Coordination of necessary services and specialist referrals including social work, cardiac psychologist and dietician. 

Please plan approximately two hours for parking.  There is public parking in the underground lot on P1. We recommend you park in the Forest section.

Additional Clinic location information: 

  • Take the parking elevators to the main floor of the hospital. The information desk is located down the hall to your right and is in front of the main entrance 
  • To the left of the information desk is the Outpatient elevators. Take the elevator to level five. 
  • As you exit on level five turn left down the hallway, then right at the end 
  • Check in at the first reception desk along this hallway, Clinic 5A/Cardiology
