“Joe Clark, The Prime Minister from High River”

On January 19, the Department of History relaunched its History Matters lecture series with a presentation by Dr. Matthew Hayday, Professor of History at the University of Guelph. Co-sponsored with the Calgary Public Library, History Matters is a public lecture series that aims to encourage people to understand current issues and debates with a historical lens. Dr. Hayday’s talk, “Joe Clark, The Prime Minister from High River,” draws from his research for a political biography of the 16th prime minister of Canada. He shared stories from the research and used Clark’s political career as a window to understanding  conservative politics in Canada.
