About the Program

The MICS Surgeon Observation Training Program encourages industry partners to invite cardiac surgeons and their teams to visit the MICS team at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta.

Participants will have the opportunity to observe MICS cases, be introduced to new ideas and techniques and establish collaborative relationships with peers while fostering a dynamic learning environment.

Program Streams

Two program streams, designed to achieve the same objectives, are available allowing industry partners to tailor the experience for their attendees’ preferences and professional goals. Learn more below:

  • Two days (four cases) including a didactic dinner presentation
  • Maximum visit capacity for both internal and external participants: 6–8
  • Types of cases: MVR, AVR, ASD or any combination
  • Additional operating room team members, such as surgeons, anesthetists, perfusionists or nurses, are welcome to attend
  • The industry partner organizer is responsible for all participants, organizing logistics and participating during the entire visit
  • One or two days (two to four cases) without a didactic dinner presentation
  • Maximum group capacity for both internal and external participants: four
  • Types of cases: MVR, AVR, ASD or any combination
  • MICS attendees include OR Team: two surgeons
  • Attendees include one to two visiting surgeons and one to two industry members
  • The industry partner organizer is responsible for all participants, organizing logistics and participating during the entire visit
