About the Libin Cardiovascular Institute



Our Mission

To be a model program of cardiovascular care from health promotion and disease prevention, through diagnosis and treatment, to rehabilitation and palliation in an environment that fosters the generation of new knowledge and education of new practitioners and scientists. We are committed to integrating research, education, and clinical care through collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches.

Our Vision

To provide a superb, efficient, integrated program of cardiovascular wellness, health care, research and education.

What We Do

The Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta is a virtual institute that coordinates all cardiovascular science research, education and patient care in Southern Alberta. It serves a population of about two million people in Southern Alberta, Saskatchewan and Eastern British Columbia.

An entity of Alberta Health Services and the University of Calgary, the institute has more than 175 members, including researchers, clinicians and clinician-researchers. 

Our members:

Educate and train the next generation of health-care providers and researchers.

Provide world-class treatment for patients. 

Conduct clinical and basic science research.
