Biography

Dr. Chen is a senior biostatistician with extensive experience in applied research using health administrative data in Analytics, Alberta Health Services. He received his training in medical science and research methodology in China. Previously he worked in Wuhan University as a faculty member for 15 years in teaching and research. In 2007, Dr. Chen moved in Canada with his family and worked at the University of Calgary. Currently, he is an Adjunct Research Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences, University of Calgary. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers. He had received several research grants, including CIHR and NIH.  Dr. Chen’s primary research interests are in the areas of health service research, particularly related to hypertension, cardiovascular disease and its complications among high risk populations. His medical methodological studies focus on the evaluation of health outcomes and clinical efficacy with regards to the use of health administrative data.
