About Seven Stones Winery

George Hanson was the popular owner and winemaker BC’s Seven Stones Estate Winery. Like many Canadians, George died far too young from a heart attack on Feb. 7, 2021. He was only 63.

Well-loved and larger-than-life, George’s parting left a hole in the wine and tourism industry of the Okanagan/Similkameen region, where he passionately created high quality wines.

He purchased his vineyard, which was then a hayfield, in 1999 and planted in 2000. The first Seven Stones vintage was produced in 2003. By the time of George’s passing, the vineyard had seven varieties of grapes producing 4,200 cases of wine annually from hand-picked grapes grown on site.

George truly loved his lifestyle, often saying, “I feel very fortunate to be living my dream where work seems somewhat like play.”

Although George is gone, his legacy lives on. We are thrilled—and extremely grateful—to announce that Seven Stones has provided all of the wine for this year’s The Beat Goes On Gala. We hope every sip you take at the Gala is a reminder of how wonderful life is, and that it inspires you to live like George did.
