Frequently asked questions

Why should I donate?
As a donor to the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, you are helping us reach our goal of enabling cardiovascular health through excellence in research, education and care.

What is the impact of my gift?
You can choose to direct your donation to an area that is meaningful to your or your family, such as:

  • Research: Support initiatives that generate new knowledge about cardiovascular health, wellness, disease and innovative approaches to clinical care. Your funds will help researchers investigate the mechanisms of disease, drug therapies and develop new technologies that will improve our ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of cardiovascular diseases. Research methodologies range from basic bench research to clinical and translational research.
  • Endowed Chairs: Create a legacy or honour a loved one by helping recruit and retain the best and brightest cardiovascular professionals through annual support of research, education and innovation.
  • Capital Investments: Funds donated in this area will help us purchase cutting-edge equipment for labs, clinics and surgical suites or make investments in lecture halls, conference facilities or on IT equipment.
  • Programs: Help us fund people, research and education to allow us to maintain and increase our programs, such as the Women's Research Initiative and the Surgical Approaches to Heart Failure Program.

Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?
Yes. All Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta donors will receive a tax receipt issued by the University of Calgary. Be sure to include your return address to ensure the receipt is made out accurately. (
