The Dr. E.R. Smith Lectureship in Cardiovascular Research

The Dr. E. R. Smith Lectureship in Cardiovascular Research was established to honour Dr. Smith for his dedicated leadership and service as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine from 1992 - 1997. The purpose of the lectureship is to further scientific knowledge and training of students in the area of cardiovascular disease.

Each year, one distinguished scientist/scholar spends 2-3 days visiting the Faculty of Medicine. He or she presents a state-of-the-art lecture to the members of the Faculty and if appropriate, presents a lecture of more general interest to the University of Calgary community. Opportunities for informal scientific exchanges between the scientist/scholar and faculty, postdocutural fellows, graduate and undergraduate medical students are emphasized during the visit.
