Graduate Sciences Training

Graduate science education within the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta gives students an opportunity to train with the world’s leading experts in basic, translational, clinical and patient care-related cardiovascular research. Our multidisciplinary research group environment allows students to gain important experience in the latest techniques and model systems. Exposure to a collaborative model, where many different research approaches are used to solve important problems of basic and disease-driven science, enhances the scope and value of the student experience. Training is available leading toward MSc, PhD degrees, or postdoctoral fellowships.

Our trainees leave with the skills and abilities to succeed in academic, research, technical and professional positions in academic and non-academic settings.

Graduate training in cardiovascular sciences is offered through the Faculty of Graduate Studies (Medicine). Students can enroll in several different graduate programs (particularly Biochemistry & Molecular Biology; Cardiovascular & Respiratory Sciences; Community Health Sciences; or Medical Sciences), while doing research in laboratories of members of the LCIA.

Prospective postdoctoral fellows should contact individual faculty members, as well as consulting with the Postdoctoral Office.
