Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta
The Strategic Advisory Board defines and guides the vision, strategy and expectations of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta. Members are appointed from Alberta Health Services-Calgary Zone, the University of Calgary and the community. In addition to the Chair of the Advisory Board, one member serves as the Chair to the International Experts Advisory Committee and one serves as the Chair of the Community and Partners Advisory Committee.
The Institute Director, Director of Research, Administrative Director, Associate Director, and the Office Manager serve on the board as the secretariat.
The Community and Partners Advisory Committee is Chaired by Dr. Alvin Libin and is currently comprised of local philanthropists and partners from organizations such as the University of Calgary, health regions from across Southern Alberta, the University of Lethbridge, the City of Red Deer, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT, and Nunavut, and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
This Committee meets biannually and its purpose it to advocate for the Institute's programs and priority needs, enhancing the quality of cardiovascular care, research and education through the institute. Members are a window to the needs of the community in order to inform program development and directly contribute to realizing the Institute's potential and achieving the highest international standards.
The International Experts Advisory Committee is chaired by Dr. George Wyse and is currently comprised of six members. The members are international physicians and scientiets of world caliber who provide expertise and guidance on the progress and development of the Libin Institute.
Members meet annually in Calgary, Alberta to discuss Libin Institute priorities for the purpose of evaluating and providing expert advice that informs and assists in establishing the processes of achieving the highest international standards of education, research and clinical care.
